ABS-CBN bags NuVision’s Global Media Pioneer award

ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation added another international recognition in its belt when it was named the Legend Award for Global Media Pioneer by NuVision Worldwide Media, LLC during the First Annual Filipino American Visionary Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, USA.

NuVision Worldwide Media, an up-and-coming production company in the US, launched its foray into the entertainment capital of the world with a historic celebration of Filipino and Filipino-American achievement in entertainment. The multi-entertainment company is involved in international as well as mainstream music, films, soundtracks, videos, live events, concerts, promotions, sales and marketing.

“This latest achievement is a clear testimony to ABS-CBN’s strong global presence. Our organization has always been recognized as trailblazers in the local entertainment industry for many years. I’m very glad that our efforts to strengthen our global presence are making significant headway,” ABS-CBN Global COO Raffy Lopez said.

“We want to give a new vision and appreciation of Filipinos to the world, particularly in the entertainment industry. We want to make a difference in this industry and by awarding those who have achieved excellence in their respective fields--- television, film, music, etc. ----we hope to bring pride and recognition to honor those who have put Filipinos on the map. And not just the Filipino-Americans who have made a difference here in Hollywood, but those from the Philippines whose contributions to promote our talents have uplifted the profile of Filipinos in the arts and entertainment,” NuVision chairman and CEO Ramil Q. Gonzales said.

Among those who also received awards during the event include
former Senator Robert Jaworski (Lifetime Achievement Award for Sports & Public Service); Sharon Cuneta (Legend Award for Acting), Dolphy (Vanguard Award for Entertainment/Comedy), Bea Alonzo (Outstanding Performance – Actress), Christopher de Leon (Legend Award for Acting) and Vilma Santos (Legend Award for Entertainment).

An array of Filipino-American artists also attended, including Apl.de.Ap (Vanguard Award for Music), Lou Diamond Phillips and Tia Carrere (both are awarded the Visionary Vanguard Award for Entertainment), Cheryl Burke, Rob Schneider, Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls, Dean Devlin and Cris Judd.

Today, ABS-CBN Global is the first and most successful Filipino broadcaster worldwide. The company offers telecommunication, retail, money remittance and cargo services, online audio and video streaming along with corporate social responsibility and philanthropic support for Filipinos communities abroad.

“So how does it feel to be a pioneer? It feels great! And it continues to feel great knowing that additional strides are being made. I'm certain other good things are in store for us and to our Kapamilyas in the future. I hope this event recognizing Filipinos and Fil-Ams for their achievements and contribution to society and to the Filipino and Asian communities in the US will continue to grow,” Lopez said.
