Victor Basa says the Coverboys are not insecure with the Kanto Boys

When the goofy quartet of John Lloyd Cruz, Luis Manzano, Billy Crawford and Vhong Navarro was launched as the Kanto Boys on ASAP ’09, many speculated that a rivalry may turn up between them and the Coverboys, another all-male group on the variety show. Coverboys member Victor Basa was quick to refute this rumor, saying the Coverboys have no reason to feel insecure with the Kanto Boys in an interview with ABS-CBN.com.“Hindi po kami nai-insecure.Iba ang audience at expertise naming Coverboys sa Kanto Boys.Nag-uusap naman kami nina Billy and okay naman kami lahat.Wala namang problema,” the actor said with a smile.

The Coverboys are comprised of Zanjoe Marudo, Jake Cuenca, Rafael Rosell, Jon Avila and Victor and the group became popular among female viewers of ASAP because of their sexy song and dance numbers. Victor however admitted that the Kanto Boys has one great advantage over them though.“Siyempre sa sayawan imposible namang matalo namin si Billy at si Vhong.Pero pagdating naman sa entertainment quality magkaiba kasi.Iba ang Coverboys.” When asked if showing off their sexy bodies is the Coverboys’ bigger edge, Victor gave a meaningful answer, “Ewan ko. Sa tingin niyo? Baka (laughs).”

From dancing sexily on stage, Victor will soon be seen on Primetime Bida in a role very far from his Coverboys image. He will be playing a young priest in May Bukas Pa.The 23-year-old actor said that it took him some time to get into his character in the teleserye.“Nakakapanibago rin.Sa Coverboys wholesome naman kami kahit papaano.‘Yung paghuhubad namin nasa lugar pa rin naman.”

Watch out for May Bukas Pa premiering this February on Primetime Bida.
