MANILA, Philippines - 'Mara Clara’ earned a 43.4% national rating according to Kantar Media last June 3, 2011 (Friday) making its finale the highest-rating episode of the well-loved series and also, the highest-rating drama series episode aired on ABS-CBN this year.
Dubbed as the mother of all drama series, ‘Mara Clara’ is a remake of the original 1992-1997 family drama series.
'Mara Clara’ performed relatively stable on the first 3 months. By the fourth month, program ratings improved, widening further its lead over competition.

Despite its later timeslot, ‘Mara Clara’ remained unfazed by competition, and even reached its peak on its finale episode.

SYNOPSIS
It all starts when Alvira breaks up with Gary after she got accepted in a college scholarship abroad. Gary turns to Susan for comfort, thinking that his first love would never come home again. But when Alvira did, it becomes evident that Gary’s still in love with her but she’s already engaged to Amanthe at the time. Two couple eventually moved on with their lives except for Gary as he takes revenge at Amanthe and plan to steal his child. Due to an unexpected turn of events, Gary was jailed, but his younger brother Karlo continued the plan as Gary ordered. He switched Susan and Alvira's babies. Alvira's baby was brought up to Susan and Gary and named her ‘Mara’ while Susan's baby, was brought up to Alvira and Amanthe and named her ‘Clara’. All these events were recorded in Karlo's diary.
