Chesca Garcia reveals the truth behind Patrick’s US trip

Last June 15, Patrick Garcia flew to the US supposedly to leave showbiz and get his life straightened out. What does the actor and soon-to-be-dad really have planned? ABS-CBN.com talked to his sister Chesca exclusively during the taping of her lifestyle show Us Girls on Studio 23.

Dad’s decision
Chesca revealed that her brother will only be in the US for a short time only. His family was unhappy with the intrigues that have been plaguing him surrounding his supposed abandonment of pregnant girlfriend Jennylyn Mercado and his alleged gambling problem. It was their father Francisco who made the difficult decision of sending Patrick abroad to avoid the limelight in the meantime. The Garcia patriarch has been unhappy about being forced to send his son away according to Chesca, who quoted her dad as saying, "Patrick does not deserve to go through this [leaving for the US]."

Mom's reaction
Patrick and Chesca's mom Bing has always been supportive of her children. From the day that Patrick and Jennylyn announced the big baby news, Mommy Bing has been doing her best to help the young couple. In fact, Jennylyn first confided about her pregnancy to Mommy Bing. And even if her son and Jennylyn have already broken up, she’s still finding ways to help the young expectant mom.

In her last text message for The Buzz, Mommy Bing said that she doesn’t want to comment on Jennylyn’s interviews on various talk shows. She also remains committed to supporting Jen and even sent a touching message for her. "Knock and the door shall be opened, ask and it shall be yours."

Patrick's plans
Patrick has a lot of things planned for his US stay, even taking up a Film Directing course. Chesca said that her brother will be back in the Philippines by October for her wedding to longtime boyfriend Doug Kramer.

When ABS-CBN.com asked what Patrick has planned for Jennylyn and their baby, he said that he never closed his doors on helping Jennylyn, but that Jennylyn herself has refused their help. As for showbiz, Patrick has finished all of his commitments for now, with his afternoon soap done and no new project lined up yet.

It's been a stressful year for Patrick Garcia, and the US vacation maybe coming at a good time. But with just a few months before Jen's due date, everyone's eager to find out what the future holds for both young stars.

In a Kindred Circle

A ‘shooter’ could mean many things. It could be a member of a military unit—most likely a sniper. Or it could also mean a photographer; taking shots of their subjects with meticulousness to light, aperture and the likes.
